The 400meter sprinter Alexander Ogando who was part of the Dominican Republic mixed relay that won a historic silver medal at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, leads the group of 13 athletes from his country in the track and field events of the I Junior Pan American Games in Cali.
Ogando, 21 years old, is second among the seeds of the 400m for the contest in Colombia, with an excellent time of 45.01 seconds, which places him on the edge of becoming the fourth man in the merengue’s land with times below 45s in the history of this country.
Meanwhile, in the 400m the Dominican Republic will have Wilbert Encarnación, second among those registered, and Luis Peralta in the 800m, who is the first seed with an outstanding time of 1.46.13. Peralta defends the famous Oregon Ducks in the NCAA. The list of gentlemen of the Quisqueyanos is completed with Cesar Elías Jasmin who is among the top 5 in the triple jump and Franquelo Pérez in the 100 meters.
As for the ladies, Liranyi Alonzo Tejada will participate in the 100m and 200m and Rosa Angélica Ramírez will be in the discus throw. Marysabel Senyu will compete in the high jump where she is the second seeded; Ludith Campos will take part in the hammer throw; Samantha Morillo on the shot put and discus throw; Milagros Duran in the 400m and Fiordaliza Cofil also in the lap to the oval where she is third among those who will participate in that test in Cali.
