The double Olympic shot put champion, American Ryan Crouser, took victory in the final of the Wanda Diamond League, which was met in Zurich, Switzerland.
Crouser, who has not lost a competition since the Doha World Championships in October 2019 (when he was second), prevailed at the Weltklasse meeting, which took place in a park outside the customary Letzigrund Stadium.
Crouser’s contest was as follows: 21.98 meters on his first attempt, foul on the second, 22.67 on the third (meeting record, which served him to crown himself), another foul on his fourth chance, 22.29 on the fifth attempt and 22.30 on the sixth.
The double Olympic gold medallist was escorted by his compatriot Joe Kovacs (22.29) and by the Serbian Armin Sinamcevic (21.86).
In the same event, but female, the also American Maggie Ewen took the title with a mark of 19.41 meters, escorted by Auriel Dongmo from Portugal (18.86) and the Swedish Fanny Roos. Then the American Chase Eale (18.49) and the Jamaican Danniel Thomas-Dodd (18.38) qualified.
