The Island of Enchantment will attend the first edition of the Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia, with a delegation of 16 sportspersons for the athletics of this event that will start this November 25.
Contreras will face in the Pascual Guerrero in the capital of Valle del Cauca, the bullet and disco events, in which he will participate with the hope of having a place on the podium, in shot put he is the sixth seeded of the list.
As for the women of the Puerto Rican representation, the presence of Courtney Campbell stands out, who is the fourth seed in the high jump. On the other hand, in men’s 10,000 meters Héctor Pagan is third on that list, Ernesto Collazo is eighth in pole vault and Rachelle de Orbeta is ninth in the 20000 meters walk.
The rest of the Puerto Rican athletics team in Colombian lands is completed as follows: in women’s with Alessandra Rodríguez in 1500m, Ana Soler in the javelin throw, Isanet González in 100m hurdles and Paola Fernández in long jump.
In men’s, the following will also participate: Arnaldo Martínez in the 10,000 meters, Carlos Vílchez in the 1500m, José Figueroa in the 100 meters, Dereck Otero in the javelin throw, Gabriel Cumbia in the pole vault, Marcus Gilpi in the high jump and Michael Soler in hammer throw.
