The Dominican sprinter Yancarlos Martínez and the high jumper, the Puerto Rican Luis Castro Rivera, arrived at the famous Spanish Club Playas de Castellón, with which they will live on Iberian soil, participating in both, the outdoor and indoor seasons.
Martínez, 29 years old, comes from being semifinalist in the 200 meters in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and is part of a sprint team from his country, that threatens great conquests in the international concert (on Japanese soil, they already won two medals, the 4×400 mixed relay and the Women’s 400m). Now, in this prestigious Spanish team, Martínez will have the opportunity to face great athletes in Europe.
Yancarlos arrived a bit late to track and field events, after being a professional baseball player, landing in athletics at 21 years of age, but his talent in speed still has great achievements in saved for him. He has personal bests of 10.17 seconds in the 100m and 20.17 in the 200m, in the latter distance he was a semifinalist in the Tokyo 2020 event.
As for Puerto Rican Luis Castro Rivera, he is an experienced 30-year-old jumper, he will be 31 on the 29th of this month. His personal best is 2.29 meters, which is a national record, he was also a world finalist in Doha 2019 and in the Rio 2016 Olympics Games.
